Summary and Objectives

The aim of the project is to tackle the discrimination and exclusion suffered by transgender and intersex people. The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. Improving access to inclusive healthcare – ACTIVEAID will provide training to healthcare professionals so that they can offer non-discriminatory care that affirms gender identity, addressing people’s specific physical and mental health needs.
  2. Promoting equality in employment – Through the participation of employers and the provision of training initiatives, the project will work to reduce discrimination in the workplace, create equal employment opportunities, and support the professional advancement of transgender and intersex people.
  3. Raising awareness and combating stigma – Through targeted campaigns and educational resources, ACTIVEAID aims to dismantle misconceptions in society, binary gender norms and stereotypes that contribute to marginalisation.
  4. Develop policy recommendations – The project will generate evidence-based recommendations for local authorities and EU policymakers to promote the rights and inclusion of transgender and intersex people.
  5. Supporting community empowerment – By fostering collaboration between stakeholders, ACTIVEAID will strengthen community support systems and amplify the voices of trans and intersex people in shaping inclusive policies and practices.

Beneficiaries/ target group

  • Grupo objetivo primario: Personas trans e intersex, con especial atención a las que se enfrentan a obstáculos en el acceso a la atención sanitaria y las oportunidades de empleo.
  • Secondary target group: Healthcare professionals, businesspeople and other community stakeholders. They are directly involved in providing services or creating conditions that impact the inclusion and well-being of transgender and intersex people.

Expected Results

  • Comprehensive report on the barriers and forms of discrimination faced by transgender and intersex people in accessing health services and employment, based on participatory research with professionals, employers and the communities themselves
  • Specialised training programmes for healthcare professionals and employers, designed to increase cultural competence, raise awareness of the specific needs of these communities, and promote inclusive practices in their workplaces.
  • Educational and awareness-raising materials, including videos, infographics and practical guides, aimed at different audiences to promote understanding, respect and inclusion.
  • Public policy recommendations for authorities and organisations, aimed at promoting legislative and administrative reforms that guarantee equal rights and opportunities..
  • Implementation of pilot programmes and best practices in healthcare centres and partner companies, evaluating the effectiveness of the tools and methodologies developed.
  • Campañas de concienciación pública que contribuyan a visibilizar las problemáticas y promover una cultura social más inclusiva y respetuosa con las personas trans e intersex.
