Project Summary + Objectives

AccessIN is a project that aims to identify and reduce the barriers faced by migrants in accessing services in five key policy areas: health, housing, education, employment and social assistance.

The project stems from the realisation that, although the social inclusion of migrants (third-country nationals) has been a key priority for the EU and its Member States, the persistence of gaps in their access to basic services demonstrates that additional measures are needed to support real and effective integration.

AccessIN will contribute to these ongoing efforts to address the social vulnerabilities of migrants by focusing on four EU Member States from different European regions: Belgium, Germany, Hungary and Spain.

Expected Results

  1. Awareness-raising activities to inform migrants about their social rights and the institutions that advise them on this matter (through “Know your rights” Q&A leaflets and a one-stop information kiosk for migrants).
  2. Actions targeting service providers, to improve effective access to services, through capacity-building training modules on intercultural competences, workshops, manuals and brochures on diversity, online courses on diversity management.
  3. Cooperation with non-governmental actors, to equip them with skills to assist migrants and foster peer learning (through thematic roundtables, online networking workshops, a fair of social organisations, a toolkit and training).
  4. Activities targeting political institutions, to inform about best practices and provide tailored guidance (through a toolkit for policy makers).
