Project Summary + Objectives

The aim of the project is to promote and protect European values ​​by enabling grassroots informal civil society groups and active citizens in Europe to act more effectively and to strengthen their impact on society, both at local and EU level.
With this project we aim to promote EU values ​​such as: freedom, the right to associate, social inclusion, European citizenship and to strengthen the implementation of the values ​​contained in, among others, the European Charter of Fundamental Rights.
We want to get to know informal groups and encourage them, as they are contributing a lot to the benefit of the whole community. We believe that they are the future of Europe.

The objectives of the project are:

  • to define a common European framework for supporting informal groups,
  • exchange of experiences between NGOs in supporting informal groups,
  • improve the activity of informal groups and develop their capacity to be more effective and impactful.
  • Inventory of opportunities, gaps and needs in support of informal groups.
  • Consultation and participation at national level.
  • Exchange of good practices in support of informal groups.
  • Incubation package for informal groups.
  • National debates on a citizens’ Europe.
  • International debate on a citizens’ Europe.
  • Policy recommendations: bringing grassroots ideas into EU policy

Beneficiaries/ target group

Informal groups (IG). Informal groups are a type of social group characterized by a fluid and flexible structure, the predominance of personal ties, the lack of formally defined tasks to perform, and informal social control.
